Kaipamangalam, Thrissur | The Sacred Anchor of the Kootala Lineage
Annual Prathishta Dinam — April 21, 2026
Our temple’s sanctity is upheld through the ‘Masa Vilakku’ tradition. While the sanctum opens for Monthly (Masa) Poojas and special ceremonies, the sacred flame is kept alive daily by our families. Each month, one specific Kootala family takes the honorary responsibility of lighting the lamps outside the sanctum every single day.

“Guided by faith, our ancestors carried the divine across rivers and mountains.”
Our journey began in the 1700s in Kadathanad, Malabar. During the Mysorean invasions of Hyder Ali and Tippu Sultan, our ancestors — members of the Nayaka Sabha under the Azhvancheri Thamprakal — migrated south to preserve our faith.
Guided by the Thamprakal and local leaders like Vakayil Kaimal, two women from our lineage traveled to Kaipamangalam carrying two sacred Vigrahas (idols). These were consecrated on the lands of the Kannankulam and Ayilur Devaswoms, establishing our current Dharma Deivam.
